And we’re back with even more from Watches & Wonders in Hong Kong. This time, fake Panerai shows us what will be a new ongoing collection in its Radiomir 1940s line, with an in-house, micro-rotor-powered, self-winding movement. First, let’s remember that the 1940 is something of a hybrid line between the traditional Luminor and Radiomir collections, as we explained when it was launched way back when with a Minerva movement inside.
The Radiomir 1940 Automatic comes in two versions of the standard 45 mm case – steel (PAM00572) and red gold (PAM00573). The steel comes with a black dial and luminous sandwiched numerals and baton indices. The red gold offers the same only on a brown dial. They both have the classic minimalist Radiomir design with a subtle, almost muted eggshell finish.
The case is molded out of a solid piece and is actually 5N red gold. This alloy has a percentage of copper and platinum in it, both for visual appeal and to enhance its anti-oxidative properties in case you plan to take it to its 10-bar depth rating.
The main attraction is the new Panerai P.4000 manufacture caliber, though. Not only is this the first automatic caliber fitted inside a Radiomir 1940, but it is also Panerai’s first movement with a decentralized oscillating weight – better known as a micro-rotor. Apart from starting a new caliber family, the P.4000 keeps the Radiomir slim. There’s some decent stuff on there. The seconds are hacking. The finish is done in circular dressage. The balance cock has twin supports with twin replica watches uk screws for adjusting the vertical play of the balance staff, sturdier than the classic overhanging cock. The balance wheel beats at 28,800 vph. Two barrels in series provide the P.4000 with three days of reserve. Last but not least, the micro-rotors come in tungsten for the steel model and in 22 carat gold with a clous de Paris hobnail finish for the gold model.
This first ever Radiomir 1940 Automatic comes on a brown or black alligator strap with white stitching. Stay tuned for pricing and for more coverage from the ground replica watches Watches & Wonders here in Hong Kong. For further details, visit Panerai online.
